Beauty, Who is she?

Artist Statement
My studio work uses visual themes from pop culture to explore the subtle ways in which my models express their identities. In Beauty, Who is She?, I appropriate the fashion form aesthetics and color palette from Disney’s Cruella to create a bold arena for the posed subjects. By standardizing the overall visual themes of the photo shoots, I aim to focus the viewer more narrowly on the subtleties in body language, pose composition, and attitude of the subjects. To evoke the on-site fashion shoot atmosphere of the exhibit and increase the intimacy of the experience, the work is displayed on the narrow walls of a moving truck.
