Artist Statement
My Capstone has been thinking about since freshman year and the stress I have put on myself to try to produce the perfect idea that would be inspiring and deep and allow me to show my artistic abilities, all this has caused me to lose focus of why I loved photography and it became a chore. I had sucked all the joy out of art for me just by putting too much pressure on myself. I had to take some time to think and realize that if this was something I was doing all semester I needed it to be something I loved. I wanted to show that everyone feels that a color represents themselves which is why each image is assigned a color however I wanted to add more to that. Four years ago, I learned about chuck close photography which inspired this project. I wanted to combine my love for photography and my interest in chuck close photography which is where I produced the idea of digitally painting my photographs. Overall, I wanted a project that I could be proud of all the demanding work I put into it and something that would bring that joy back to photography for me, this has allowed has given me what I wanted to be able to finish this year strong.
